General purpose editor for programmers: Notepad++

For years, I did not have a standard light-weight text editor I would use under Windows. For my programming needs, there was no question what to use: if I had C# and related HTML/JavaScript source code, Visual Studio would do. PHP? I use PhpStorm. But what if I need to edit anything else?

I tried all kinds of text editors (please do not recommend Notepad 🙂 ), like Notepad2, Vim, Emacs and many more. (I do like Vim though, coming in at second place)

Finally, I settled on Notepad++. And I have really enjoyed my decision ever since.

So if you are in need of a text editor then try out Notepad++. I will blog about some features I like about it soon.
