ThinkPad X1 Yoga (1st) tip: Stop the Start menu from popping up randomly

Do you have a ThinkPad X1 Yoga (1st generation)? Do you see the Start menu in Windows 10 popping up randomly? Annoyed by it? Finally Lenovo released a touch panel firmware update that solves this problem.

Touch Firmware Update Tool

The description from the update might not be the exact thing:

  • (Fix) Fixed an issue where the windows home key might be input without touch.

After having this installed, I have not seen the issue pop up anymore!

Head over to the Lenovo support site to download the firmware update: Touch Firmware Update Tool

Installation tip if you use multiple external monitors

When running the update tool, make sure the display panel of the notebook is open and turned on. Otherwise, the update utility will not be able to detect it (for example if you have the notebook docked and the lid is closed).
